"Love in Left Field: A Battlefields Into Baseball Diamonds Generation"

A touch of spice, sporty 19th Century American Historical Romance short story. What happened to the kids who grew up and searched for love in the wake of war? Perhaps their land and hearts were left scarred by their parent’s decisions. And maybe they formed tight bonds in the echo of cannon fire. This generation turned battlefields into baseball diamonds and held their sweethearts close.

Azalea kept busy at her aunt’s printing press those years after he went away. Did he even care when she was pursued by the town scoundrel?

Mansfield’s anonymous benefactor bankrolled his tuition up north. His favorite pastime helped him cope with being away from her. He never dreamed he’d find her again in left field.

Book 1

"To Sign Her Own Name"

A historical romance novel

Inspired by the actual struggles of bold American women, this 1850s historical romance follows Tessa Mae, a Pittsburgh iron heiress after she arrives in a small California town.

Thanks to her late husband's plan to keep her safe from a former suitor, she settles into rural life. When a rotten neighbor sues, Tess keeps her privileged background secret, but things get complicated when she falls for the handsome attorney, Shaun. He is focused on winning her case and changing the property laws in the new state. Will signing her name on the contract advance her cause at the expense of a relationship with the most compatible man she's ever known?

Will Tess stay single...To Sign Her Own Name?

Book 2

"The Love Debts"

When Shaun marries and another suitor leaves town, frivolous Livia re-evaluates what's important. Her father suffers a mysterious illness and she must jump in to save their family business without the San Francisco investors finding out. But it's the gorgeous blacksmith who sets aside his own concerns to help her discover the cause of her father's illness, and give her the encouragement she needs to become a woman in business. Will the cause of her family's strife drive Livia away from the most supportive suitor she's ever had?

News:

Kindle Vella short story is published. See steps below.

1st Place! My poem "10 YEARS" won the NVWC Golden Nib for Poetry Award. Published in the VWC 2023 Golden Nib Journal. See cover below. Available on Amazon.

Recent trip: Toured San Francisco and other California sites related to the novels. How wonderful to walk in the footsteps of the women who inspired these stories. Although the theatre plaza is now a hotel, the unique setting with cool fog rising onto the city streets recharged the creative mindset. :)

Published: The 2022 Virginia Writers Club Journal includes my short story BATTLEFIELDS. It is available to purchase on Amazon paperback.  https://a.co/d/5lMCxAQ
